5 Tips to Effectively Follow Up After Submitting Your Tender
Submitting a tender takes a lot of time and effort—gathering pricing, reviewing plans, drafting letters, and ensuring every detail is perfect. But all that hard work can go to waste if you don’t follow up effectively.
To help you stay on top of your tender submissions, we’ve created a simple follow-up plan. Add these steps to your calendar as reminders, and increase your chances of securing the project!
1. Submit Your Tender
Once your tender is submitted, mark your calendar for a follow-up call.
2. Make a Follow-Up Call
Make a follow-up call 2 days later to make sure the tender was received and hasn’t ended up in their spam folder. (Set a reminder to stay on track!)
3. Send a Follow-Up Email
If you haven’t heard back, send an email 2 weeks after submission and ask if they need any additional information. It’s a gentle nudge to remind them of your submission. (Don’t forget to set a reminder!)
4. Make Another Call
A second follow-up call 2 weeks after the email gives you a chance to check the status of your tender and demonstrate your eagerness to work on the project. (Yes, set another reminder!)
5. Gather Feedback
And this is the most important step that a lot of contractors don’t go to the effort of doing and often overlooked.
– If the Builder you submitted the tender to isn’t successful, find out if they know who was the successful builder was, so then you can submit your tender to them.
– If they are successful, but you didn’t win the project find out where you sit within the field of other contractors so you can better your chances with them for next time
These steps are just the beginning. Developing a habit of setting reminders for these touch points can significantly enhance your tender submission process. Implement these strategies for every tender you submit and watch your win rate increase.
